Iron Cross 2nd Class - 122
This 122 Marked Iron Cross 2nd Class is a very attractive and desirable award. It’s maker marked on the suspension ring with the Präsidialkanzlei code “122” indicating manufacture by the firm of Jean-Jacques Stahl of Straßburg. This maker and was one of only two Iron Cross manufacturers that were not German, but located in a French province. The frame has a great look, with even, pleasant age toning and patina. This Iron Cross by this maker is a rarer one to find. The condition is excellent and would be impossible to upgrade.

Textbook German Cross in Silver
This German Cross in silver was purchased directly from the veteran’s son. The cross was manufactured by C.F. Zimmermann, as indicated by the “20” mark underneath the pin. The cross displays all the typical die flaws that one would expect to see on a textbook example, to include the die flaw in the 11 o’clock position of the starburst. The reverse of the cross has a light patina, and typical hardware set up with a wide pin and base plates for the hinge and catch.
While an approximate total of 26,000 of the Gold Grade of the German Cross were awarded, only 2,500 of the Silver Grade were awarded making this an exceptionally rare and difficult to find badge.
